has anyone directly compared the quad era with a focal clear mg, for rock metal listening which is the best?

Quad era 1 works better with more hatic songs due to precise imaging and layering. Clear MC works better with symphonic, sludge and post metal where there is heavy use of sustain.

Personally I would take quad era 1 over clear MC for metal in general but at the end of the day it's what you like.

There is honestly value in both.
I like the flat pads when amped with a lot of power the most these days.

the quad arrived ready to go back.....noise of scrap metal on the left and right feels much less powerful = a disastrous experience.

if I connect the quad to my ibasso dx 220 and lg v20 it can only be heard on the left, if I connect it to the PC and amplifiers it can be heard well on both sides, is there an explanation or is it faulty?

The first thing that springs to mind is the question "is the headphone jack fully inserted?"

The stock cable is fine on ibasso dx200 for me, so doubt it's an issue with your mobile sources...

How are you connecting in the two different scenarios? Is it with different cables? Did you get them from a dealer or a private sale?

I was extremely unlucky, 2 problems in one headphone, the right driver slowly turns off and then the iron noise on the left driver

I had problems too!!! Right driver doesn't work and left driver makes a clanking noise = a disaster

Hmm, driver going off is going to be a return. The clanking seems to come from some stick/ slip in the hinge mechanisms.

Looks like you have one of the batch with some dubious QC unfortunately.
Both of the issues you described can be fixed , but a return or replacement would be the easier option.....
