No one buy Solo?

I'm listening to mine now. Really nice build, fit and isolation - the sound is very clear with good separation, definitely sub bass boosted with very very slightly recessed mids that are a tiny bit on the thin/clinical side (despite the bass boost) and smooth treble with a nice touch of sparkle and air. Soundstage is average in all 3 directions but imaging is very good, despite having a fairly restrained tuning they still manage to sound pretty exciting thanks to the bass boost.

It might take a bit of tip rolling to get the bass sounding crisp (cp100 (edit: not cp100+) work, for me at least) and they are really source sensitive, just switching DAC filters around makes a noticeable difference (e.g. using a short delay sharp roll-off thickened/warmed the mids).

Hello Fam,

I'm new in the Forum, hope this finds everyone well and hope you all are healthy and happy overall.

I got the Anole VX from MusicTeck and Andrew and I'm madly in love with it. The best tool I've tried in all my years to the point of making all of the others unnecessary.

Got the Tripowing altea cable for it just for the looks, to be honest, and I like the 4.4 and the extra "headspace" plus the resolution is like going from watching videos at 720p to full 8k. It's addicting.

Pricy but 10/10 would recommend it to anyone. I'm not a reviewer and most of what I think might not make much sense to everyone but the feelings i get from this IEM is just clarity, rumbles, impactful but super well-controlled bass, verticality, and depth to the sound, imaging on point ( I do play tons of FPS and its the best of the best for me).

Vocals are perfect, males, females and androids.

Comfort is almost custom level so basically another dub for it.

Weight almost nothing, almost to the point of feeling cheap but the thing is, they disappear when you get them in. I also got the ezlas tips for it and it just improves upon the already awesomeness this is. The original tips ( for wet ears like mine) felt a bit to annoying to deal with. But the ezlas give more of a seal that conforms to your inners by the heat your body produces and they just are f- perfect.

Only real problem I've got with them is the fact that my wife gets pissed at me since I'm always using them and barely care for outside noises.

Congrats! I loved the VX when I had it and the only reason I sold it was to fund the V14, but I sometimes think about getting the VX again, it’s really good. 👍

So a review of the Anole VX I read recommends using the smallest tips possible and inserting them as deep as possible. I would not advise actually doing this. The curved nozzle has permanently stretched out my right ear canal, I have had to go through my entire collection of dozens of tips to get some IEMs to fit, and I can no longer wear some IEMs at all.

The way I would suggest to insert the standard Anole VX is to use whatever double-flange tips best fill up your ear canals while letting the IEM press up against your pinna lightly but without leaving any gap, twisting like 🔄 afterwards to improve seal. I'm using some generic tips that I don't know the origin of for my right ear because the stock ones don't work with it anymore. Interestingly, bore width doesn't seem to matter with this kind of insertion.

Anyway, it sounds nice, if maybe generic. Bass seems unremarkable, somewhere between DD and BA. If I EQ up the bass by a few dB, I get some more DD-like decay, so a tighter seal might help with that. VX manages to reproduce the difficult-to-resolve sub-bass texture in my bass test dance music track. Don't bother with the bass (unless a poor seal makes bass compensation necessary) or treble switches, even in 101 configuration as it doesn't raise the mid-treble necessary to maintain crispness with that kind of tuning change. Mid switch makes it sound a bit shouty to me, but YMMV for people with a higher 3 kHz pinna gain target.

Staging is slightly out of head with these ear tips, about the same width as Variations. No perceived wonkiness in the midrange, though 1-2 dB more in the low mids would be ideal for me. I do perceive Harman 1-4 kHz (Moondrop VSDF sounds a bit shouty but is still within preferred range) as wonky because of the pinna gain, so I would guess people who prefer that target might get the opposite impression. Depth is better than Variations, and the cleaner treble makes it more detailed to my ears with better imaging. I might maybe call the staging holographic when listening to my orchestral test tracks, as cliché and overused the term is. Getting a good seal is mandatory for bringing down the upper treble enough to get coherent perceived depth. Front-to-back layering sounds wrong otherwise.

Not hearing the reputed treble harshness with deep insertion. The Andromeda 2016's treble peak took me about 15 minutes to get used to whenever I stopped using it for a while, but the VX takes none. If I do a medium-depth insert, it does sound metallic and nasty and bad.

You can always go custom and eliminate the fit issues you mention. Other than that I am a proponent of a more shallow depth in general for universals. But everyone’s ears will differ.

These v14 just came in and my initial impressions was a huge wow. The resolution and details across the spectrum are very impressive but the bass reproduction from these with switch 1 flipped to on position genuinely makes me believe there's a dynamic driver in there. Maybe it's too early to say but the v14 sounds like a more musically kse1500. At first I thought the switches were gimmicky but I can see now how it can be used to make this iem more versatile to help it match the listener's taste across various genres. For a universal iem, these fit awfully close to a ciem. The only real gripe I have with these are the protruding reversed polarity 2 pin connectors. I know there's a flushed standard polarity 2 pin version but Musictek didn't have that version. Super happy with this purchase.

ps. The glow in dark faceplate had a small factor in purchasing decision haha.

qdc may be my favorite brand for build quality and design on its shells. I like the faceplate and I’m sure they sound really good. Congrats!

Thank you :) I'm quietly impressed, they really suit my library (mostly electronica) and are seriously making me wonder what QDC can achieve higher up their range.
