That's interesting because someone posted an email quote from Sennheiser in a thread last week saying that there were never any changes to the headphones and that the PX100 has been the same since its inception. I don't remember the thread though.

The Email pic actually worked.. Well anyway I purchased some new ver black senns (in the new box, I asked the shop what box it is) and I hope I'll prefer the new ones.. Anyway I'll never have a chance to hear the old ver (I think) so It's actuall good because if I'd like it more I would commit suicide... lol just kidding thx for all the help ya guys..

I recently bought a "new" black PX 100 at Amazon.de. It's the orange box and it might very well be the old PX 100, because I didn't notice any shrill highs and don't have to use equalizer settings to get pleasing bass.
Then again, I'm not 100% sure. But it's true that old PX 100 = good bass and new PX 100 = piercing highs, lesser bass, isn't it?

What I heard was that they changed the voice coils or something like that from copper to aluminum (or it might be the other way around, or it might be different materials entirely, but you get my drift). But they did not actually change the PX100's voicing or engineer any changes or anything like that. So both the claim they changed something and the claim they didn't are true.

In case anyone is looking for the old ones, I just ordered a pair of the black px-100's for my fiancee from Amazon and today I received the older version in the orange packaging.
