Short of taking them to pieces I dont think that its possible to tell on appearence alone. When did you buy them? If recently then they are pretty certain to be the new version.

Do you think those are the new version? (If they renew merchandise it probably is isn't it?)

That's must be a newer box, most probably with the new version in it I guess.

I don't think the whites were even made before they made the newer drivers.

BTW, some like the old version better, some the new. At the start the reports of the new ones were that they didn't sound good, this opinion changed and now most people like them better. I truely don't know what to think.
The way we found out, there were reports of people telling that their PX100 didn't sound at all like we described. Too bright, not bass heavy etc, they were dissapointed. At first you think it's difference in taste or source but at a certain point there were too many of these brighter PX100 reports. Then someone e-mailed sennheiser and after a couple of denies someone got an e-mail that they did change something to make them brighter.

Spooky.... I'm afraid now I might get the wrong ver cause I never tried a new or old one... Is the difference that big? Especialy talking about bass, if the new ver has weak bass I'm hesitationg about getting it..

I don't know. I only have the older version and one of the first made. At least I got them when they first came out. If I were to get another pair I'd take my chances with the newer ones. Lately everyone seems to like them and there is a good reason that I've modded mine. Unmodded thay hardly have highs and are (to my ears) all bass and clearity and detail suffers because of it. Even with the mod they still are bass heavy.

You could always get the KSC75s. Cheaper and just as good IMO.

I have been able to find old Senheiser PX 100s with the more bass oriented flavor used there. To me the new versions of the PX 100s wimp out on material with electric bass and drums so I have been able to find used PX 100s on the buy/sell forum. Just qualify your post stating that you are interested in Senns that are a couple of years old. They are quite durable so the fact that they are used should not be a deterrent. I do have what I suppose is a new version of the PX 100s and I have to EQ some bass in which is something I prefer not doing and is not necessary with older PX 100s. If using the EQ function to get the bass that you like is OK with you then don't worry and get a new pair. They seem to tolerate equalization gracefully but I guess that this would depend on your DAP and the EQ options. A little bit of equalization goes a long way.
