Hi guys, I'm new to this forum and a complete newbie, looking for some help.

I own a pair of Sennheiser PX100iis and I'm happy with their sound quality overall. I saw a pair of Beats solo HD the other day and really liked the look. I know they're not exactly loved on this forum but I was thinking about buying a pair just to wear around when I don't care about SQ that much and would prefer some style, if you will (Like walking around at University).

Just wondering how their sound compares to the PX-100iis which are one third of the price where I live. Is it at least as good as the PX100iis? If yes, I might sell them and put the money in for the Beats. the Senn's SQ is good enough for me so I wouldnt mind something on a similar level on the Beats, and it would do me just fine.

Thanks.

Honestly the PX100ii headphones are going to sound better than those Dr Dre beats. I applaud you for being honest.  I would keep your Sennheisers and use the money to buy a new jacket, shoes, or something else.  Don't throw money away on those Beats.

haha no man you missed my point. My friends and I, you've probably heard this too, where it's the worlds worst pick up line..

"hey nice shoes...wanna screw?"

Kinda the scenario I was going for. Sorry for the misconception. And yes, the beats are very sexy devices.

I tried them briefly at the store and didn't like them. I greatly preferred my PX100-ii. If you want a pair of headphones for style, try the Phiaton MS300 or 400.

I've lusted after the ESW9 for a couple of years, but I admit that the Phiatons look good and ljokerl gave them a very favourable review. I've ordered the PX200-II and they should be here next week - reportedly a darker and slightly bassier PX100, but I've never heard either. The ESW9s will have to wait a little longer.

That's funny because I've heard that the PX200-IIs pleather pads reduce the bass compared to PX100-II in the process of creating isolation. The bass on my PX100-ii is incredible, at times a bit too overwhelming...but its great for the music i listen to. I can't find Phiatons for sale anywhere where i live New Zealand and I'd like to try them out first before buying them.

So the Beats Solo HD sound is worse than the PX100IIs? that's incredible.

Yeah, the PX100ii is most definitely bassier than the PX200ii. I found the 200 to be a bit more refined, but the 100 just has that oomph that makes it more fun. I also feel the 100 is more comfortable.

I have the PX100 (original) and my wife has the Solo HD Red. I did a comparison listen after reading this thread. I still love the PX100 for the comfort and the SQ for the price but the Solo HD was better in almost every way. They are such different phones it is hard to really compare them. The PX100 is open, light, and was around $30 when I got them. The Solo is closed, pretty isolating, has an iPhone control cable, is not as portable and the retail price is not even close the PX100. My wife purchased them when they were available as refurbs from the Monster Christmas F&F sale so they were only $80. At $200 I would be hard pressed to recommend them. They certainly are attractive and their audio qualities certainly do not deserve the negative comments routinely seen on this forum. The price deserves the criticism if sound quality is your only criteria. I don't know how useful this comparison is to you since the version I own is a generation behind what you are thinking of purchasing.
