PS Audio just released their new DAC, the NuWave DAC. The MRSP is listed as $995. This looks like the replacement for Digital Link III, since that's not listed on their site anymore. Seems to have all the standard features (24 bit/192 kHz) with both balanced and single ended outputs. It accepts USB, coax, and optical.  Wonder how it will compare to the DL III? I have heard people say that they found DL III to be a bit smooth and very musical in comparison to something like Schiit Bifrost which is meant to be purely transparent without any enhancements or any upsampling. The NuWave, like the DL III, also has upsampling capabilities. Personally, I would like this DAC to be more like the Bifrost with a much better performance of course. The USB connection is asynchronous - hopefully with better jitter and other technical performance.

It looks better than the DL III, IMO. If it wasn't for the logo and the green lights, it could've passed for an Apple product - very nice clean finish.

Crap, and I just got a DLIII!!! But hey, it was $605 less than this, so I can't complain! Looks great anyhow!

I'm wondering how much difference there really is between the old and new models. $499 for the old model sure is tempting. Not sure my ears can justify the difference in price.

I'd be more inclined to go with the W4S DAC-1 for a few more shekels, but that's a little premature given that we have no listening impressions yet. You guys all read the same reviews I do, but that's my two cents worth,

Well now, this is very exciting. I loved by Cullen-modded DL3, but eventually sold it because I didn't like being forced to upsample. This unit's Native Mode is therefore a welcome addition.

That's the main reason my stock one is for sale now.
