This might seem like a rant, but I just want to warn others before placing there order with provantage. I recently ordered a pair of headphones the Denon ah-d2000's off them on June 21. Silly me thinking that they were in stock and that they were going to ship it out the next day. Funny thing is I called them a couple days later wondering why there hasn't been any activity and they said the headphones were on special order and won't be shipped to June 30th, strange how they didn't tell me that when I was ordering the headphones. Today I called them up again asking if my headphones have shipped but they tell me the headphones are on backorder and won't be shipped to July 15th, knock on wood. Not only that they charge me for the Denon's every week on my credit card statement as pending until I receive my headphones and that is when they remove the charges, how peculiar. So next time when you order off Provantage or any other fishy site, call them up and ask them if they have the headphones or product in stock or not before placing a order, it will save you alot of time and frustration.

I ordered a pair from them a few days back and they did say it was on backorder. They haven't charged me yet but I'll be on the lookout. You must admit the price can't be beat as long as you do get them. BTW Buy.com also has them for a decent price but they are also on backorder there.

I don't know if it said special order when you ordered, but it does now... not that I'm really defending them, it can definitely be a pain to have to deal with.

It also sucks they're basically charging you for the headphones a month before they ship it... you really shouldn't be charged for the product until they're ready to ship it out.

I checked this site about week ago specifically for the Denon D2000 and I remember it saying it was on special order, maybe it wasn't when you checked. I have to admit kind of not noticeable just a blue check mark. But if you click on the link it says "Place your order with us and we will get it for you as quickly as possible. Manufacturers's Warranty."

Hopefully, they don't get pushed back any farther.

I think there is a incorrect application of terms when the o.p. said they have been charged each week. It appears to me, what he may not understand is they likely placed a "hold" on his card/account for the amount of the purchase - which is somewhat different than an actual charge to the account.........and a far more common practice than many may realize. .....eg. even Sennheiser places a hold for a parts order. You only realize it when the parts are not in stock.......yet, there are XXX dollars no longer available to spend.....even though those dollars are still reflected in your account balance.

Never had a problem with them. Ordered tons of computer hardware from them over the years. Denon 2000 and 5000 very clearly indicated as being a special order item on their Web site, rather than something that they stock. I don't know if they charge your card immediate for special order items, but they probably shouldn't until they actually ship the item.

I've been watching the price of the D2000's on several sites for the last month. The Provantage site is one that I check. Their site has had a statement that the D2000 was a special order for at least 3 weeks.

I too have had dealings with them for computer supplies for several years and have always found them to be reputable.

I think I've probably looked enough and need to go ahead a place the order. Let's hope they come in soon.

I probably didn't see the special order, but did you read the part where I called them and they said it was going to ship June 30th and now they are on back order and are shipping july 15th? Special order is special order, but getting hit with a back order right after that, not the type of service that I am use to.

When you try to buy the Denon D2000s off Provantage, it says special order. The items they do have in stock says, "In Stock" and they even tell you how many they have in stock. Sorry you expected it to be in stock. But for their price, I wouldn't mind waiting a little bit longer.

They seem to be a warehouse type of retailer. These retailers are typical of very low prices, and unreliable stock and slow shipping. It's like caiman on Amazon, they often delay shipping for weeks because items are out of stock, but their prices can be very very low. Poor and slow service is what makes the prices so low, but the stuff they sell are all genuine.

For that price "I am waiting" I'm lucky I have my SR225's to listen to while I wait.

I didn't look at D2000s but I know that Provantage (and mostly everyone else) have been out of D5000s for a month now. As far as pushing back the date, I know with D5000s at least, this is Denon's fault, as they keep promising the channel that more phones are coming and then they keep slipping back the date. They were probably just telling you what Denon told them.

Provantage told me today that they will ship 7/21. We'll have to wait and see.

I sure hope its not 7/21. I bought (and paid) for a pair of D5000 from them on 5/14. A couple of days later I received them, but I noticed a driver match issue right off the bat. So, I RMA'd them, and have been in the "queue" ever since. So, waiting two months for a functioning pair of "quality" headphones is more than a little frustrating. Needless to say, my D2000 that I bought from Audiocubes last year (and recently sold) were better assembled (i.e. better matching drivers, smooth ratcheting adjustments, swivels, more even padding in the earcups etc). I'm starting to question what Denon is doing to keep up with supply and demand, and seriously hope the new phones I get are worth this wait and pain, because its going to be difficult to get a refund in my situation.

Your mods probably sent them back to the drawing board! Blame Markl, everyone, lol...
