Well, you are now simply driving me crazy!!! What holes did you wind up covering for the grand finale? I'm really interested in what your final changes and modifications were! Was it the 2500 ear pads that just about finished it?

And thanks for plunging ahead into this project. Very interesting!

You have me figured out! Yes, I will have them apart eventually and be experimenting. One thing Sovkiller noted about his Ed9's was a fiber pad covering over the driver also... some kind of cottony material perhaps? There was a pic somewhere in the Ed 9 thread several months ago... I'll look for it one evening soon.

Lovely graphics!

Looking forward to your mod! Can't remember about the fiber pad covering the driver. Did a quick search but it came up with nothing.

I found Sovkiller's references to what he found inside the Edition 9's today:

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showpo...5&postcount=52

In it he says the following:

In another thread, he also mentions thoughts about whether the diodes may be different values offering a different sensitivity to the same driver that the Proline 750 and 2500 share with it.

Also, in the front of the same thread, he shows a picture showing how the opening of the cups and position of the drivers is straight down instead of down and forward like on the 750's.

Very interesting!!! Thanks Sov!

WOW, xinoxide, amazing mod you did there, kudo's for your courage to hack 'n slash those 750's into that awesome black beauty.
And those RCA plugs sticking out really finishes it.

That headphone is definitely in my 'Top 3: Beautiful Headphones' (along with the ED9's and the ATH-ES7).

Btw, why do i keep seeing the same people in Ultrasone Topic's

i think only the people that have them really appreciate their unique sound, not as unique as they may seem, but its definately different and needs a bit of getting used to.

stuffed the cups with cotton stuffing recycled from a beheaded pink teddy bear. pretty much the same sound other than the bass, it feels a bit tighter but around the same volumes.

still struggling to find a painting method that works on this plastic.

if anyone has any suggestions on a certain paint i should use with this plastic i would definately try it.

Have you been putting primer on the plastic before painting it?

yes, the main problem starts where the cups swivel, and it chips its way off from there. right now they are stripped back down to the underlying bare plastic wich is lighter than the proline blue. not as pretty as i would like. i actually just got my car fixed, and its a black subaru, the front fenders and hood are getting repainted in a couple of weeks. and i was thinking about taking my headphones in and inquiring about having them painted that way, that would work out the best, but id have to grind down certain ereas to keep the paint from damaging itself again.
