im doing a thorough cleaning of my cans, prepping them for paint, and a later double sided cable mod.

I WISH I HAD A CAMERA GUYS!!!

the build quality here is amazing. i just wish i kept them a bit cleaner on the outside, i even popped the drivers off to make sure they are clean, theres not a damn thing in there.

its just the pads and rubber headband are pretty grungy. but after i paint them and recable them, im taking much better care of them. after waiting 3 weeks to receive an e-mail from ultrasone about how the ports in the bufferboard effect sound.

(closed them all to rid of that dip in frequency response.)

imagine this:

a tub of water with a couple hoses that run into a pump (the driver) wich pushes water through one hose through the other, wich lead to the same tank, the size of the hoses restrict wich velocity of flow go through the hoses.

tada! now go try it.

i'm just too afraid for all that pulling apart stuff, even for moding. i'd rather leave it to the pros.

i had to work up some major courage myself, but this is turning out way easier than i thought, one dissapointment i have is the screw, they strip so easily, but luckily both my father and his girlfriend have technical jobs (cable companies and elevators) so i have stainless steel screws that fit, as well as high wattage wires, wich is just hooked up to the drivers and ran through the headband, im still going to need to drill through the other earcup at a later time, before i paint them for the double sided cable.

also, i was talking to my dads ex-wife, who thank god still loves me. She is from the phillipines and her family has a small silk weaving business there, for about $80 i could send them a pair of velour pads, and within a months time have a pair of silk pads :]..im contemplating though because id also have to buy another pair of velour's

just installed a little "upgrade"

the headband uses small ball bearings to hold the headband at whatever adjusted length, the ones that were in there i deemed too small, comparable to the tip of a .7mm ballpoint pen ball. so i put in some .9mm's and the headband has a little more resisitance to resize.

its happened to me before, and they just end up lopsided looking, so hopefully that might be a bit of a fix for something that still wasnt "broken".

reassembled until im ready to paint and make cables.

once i get the items i need for cabling, i get to drill a hole through some $400 headphones.

just finished sanding off the thin layer of paint on the ultrasone proline 750's now i just await the cables so i can rid of the wire that runs through the headband, the subtraction of that is the only way i will COMPLETELY de-assemble the headphones, to paint them. im working on getting an airgun for this too, and the appropriate paint for the plastic.

everything that was blue is going to be black, and ive already ordered some high quality sticker paper for use with an inkjet printer so i can make some custom proline 750 logo stickers.

if anyone wants to design me something, it needs to be in a vector art format.

the design must contain my user-name, the ultrasone logo, the slogic logo, and the model of the headphones.

Looking good! I like that black; it makes them look a little like Edition 9.

What's up with those earcups, though? Those vents belong on the 2500, not the 750! Were they hidden under the decals on the outside?

Good luck on the cable front!

yeah, when you pull the donut sticker off, you can see the vents, but they are still closed. when you pull the bufferboard off, theres are black rings covering the vents, these are glued on with a very strong glue, i bent an exacto knife to kind of pry the cover off of the ports.

i even had to redrill through the cups for the RCA plugs. im pretty sure rca will be fine, as the sleeve is a ground. so the vast erea of connectivity shouldnt really matte rmuch should it?

if you think rca will be much of a proble, let me know while i can still pull them out.

Why did you use plugs instead of jacks? Most cables will have plugs.

the jacks i have are much bigger around, id have to do even more carving of the cups.

and the cables ill be making are well, obviously going to be custom cables.

i still would like a design for the earcups.

perfect circle vector design, so i can get them printed onto stickers of the correct size and shape. sticker BG must be white. contain the ultrasone logo as well as the slogic logo.

im working on getting a decal for the headband as well.

(Eelement X) wich is rather contradictory

element X was thought up as an element of infinate density for use as an insulator to reach absolute zero, but its just an idea. considering something of infinate density would also have infinate mass, size, as well as many other things of the physical realm.

and a pair of open prolines null on insulation(isolating factor) at least.

im switching the plugs to jacks, as im going neutrik to neutrik. and the Female side will fit inside the cups a bit better.

ive also ordered everything i need to make the cables. i did find a very nice very heavy duty cable at work though, supposedly its shielded up the ass but is still very flexible. and has pure silver wiring running through it, originally used as a 46 foot XLR cable. the XLR connectors have already been clipped so i just have the cable wich is good. i baught all neutrik connectors, a neutrik mini, and a pair of neutrik females and males, all gold plated with black sleeves. ordered a nice black cable sleave from qables and a black Y adapter.i even went as a far as getting silver/copper solder and shrink tubing. these cables will come out beautifully im sure.
