Looking at the pictures I could imagine that terminating the cables with L-shaped plugs (pointing forward) might be more comfortable?

hehe yeh I was kidding placement would be all wrong and all too.. thanks. I got bored

anyway, I found a cool mac app, electroacoustic toolbox, does the whole frequency generator, sweeps, white noise pink noise, etc etc.. turns my mic into an oscilliscope too, I use it to see my cmoys frequency response and stuff.. I only got the 'social' (hehe) version.. so I cant update to the newer version.. which allows you to callibrate it and stuff.. so I can just see how it response compared to a straight patch.. anyway, wont really help you unless you got a proper mic or anything.. just thought I'd share =D if you're on the mac side, let me know, I'll.. be social hope you figure out the acoustics for that I figured it'd be a prob since its probably tuned for closed design even a change in the thikness of the plastic or whatever of it, even if you'd stayed copletely closed, would have changed its acoustics.. I dunno.. maybe you can be the pioneer in experiment with lining the inside with different types of insulation or whatever in different places to see what works.. you may even get something more to your taste. go study physics, you could get graded on it hahaha

im going to wait for the pads before i get into this. luckily with the pads and completely closing the bufferboard holes ill get closer to what i want.

ko so the new pads came in like 5 minutes ago. they are MUCH different, if you feel around the inside lining, theres a screen instead of a solid material, this braught the bass down to a near perfect level. listening to underworld now makes sense, before it was like Karl Hyde (mybad) was standing behind the music, now hes right out there on stage like its a live performance, i still need to work out this soundstage thing, so please be patient while i once again cover holes.

after really re-aquanting myself to my ultrasones after opening them, i am 10 times happier. the soundstage is tremendous. the male vocal dip is gone. and i can hear when im being talked to (in the right situations here thats alright)

Well, you are now simply driving me crazy!!! What holes did you wind up covering for the grand finale? I'm really interested in what your final changes and modifications were! Was it the 2500 ear pads that just about finished it?

i covered all 5 holes in the bufferboard on each side as i uncover them the bass goes down, the openings on the outside of the cups themselves are still completely open, i covered one hole on the backside of the driver for each side, made the holes a little more symmetrical wich seems to have braught the bass down a wee bit more, im not a basshead, but i love it as long as its smooth. now that the pads are better conformed to the shape of the sides of my face, the soundtage problem i was having seems to be completely gone, the soundtage reaches really far now that they are open too, its much more of a horizontal plane extending to the sides as well as in front and back of me.

alot of the vocal tracks i have, i can almost feel the vocalist singing right in front of me. no matter how loud the music they are singing over seems to be, they just shine right through the music at my face (this is of course depending on the track, because alot of the tracks i have include sampled vocals, and sampling from other songs means added effects and time/tonal modifications that really ruin the natural sound of their voices).

but a few of the tracks that shine through as such are:

Refractory - Yo solo quiero
Radiohead - Idioteque
Noisia & Shanodin - Angel eyes (wich was surprising to me, the vocals sound very familiar, i know they are sampled, but they've managed to make it sound less like its sampled, and more like shes just on a really old mic)

also, if you have heard angel eyes, and can tell me the name of the original recording, id love you long time.

Just to fool around in Photoshop I tried to make what you were asking for....
Maybe to give you an idea of what you would like to have. Don't have it in your requisted format though. Don't know with what kinda program you make that with. I had the black field around it so it was nicer for me to make it.
