The new Monkey3 is great! Still not sure if it'll displace Sphere as my favorite of their albums but it is very good, no doubt.

On the subject of instrumental prog... I stumbled on this album by way of a Tidal radio shuffle. Not as heavy or energetic as Monkey3, but quite nice in its own right. Excellent guitar work by Fernando Perdomo! Enjoying it now via Meze Empyrean with a nice, crisp IPA.

Having a blast going through the Monkey3 catalogue on Amazon Music HD. I'm currently on Sphere which if push came to shove I think I'm enjoying slightly more than Welcome to the Machine, not much in it though. Really digging the guitar work on all their albums, which is surprising as the Grado RS-1x doesn't normally play nice with wall of sound recordings and this is pretty prevalent in Monkey3 music.

[Edit] Listening to Welcome to the Machine again and now I'm not so sure, I think I'll call it a draw.

I would say this for their ENTIRE catalog. This band can do no wrong, IMO.

I've been hooked on the new Monkey3 album for the past few days. It's hands down one of the best instrumental albums I've come across in the last couple of years, and it's likely my album of the year so far!
