Question...
What about the Zero DAC with the MKV? I understand the Zero DAC is a DAC, headphone amp, and preamp, but I'm going to assume that the built-in amplifier isn't enough to run DT880-Premiums?

Not a bad idea. While I'm sure that any small headphone amp would do an okay job with Beyers, you are right - the DAC section is the stronger part of the Zero, not its built in headphone amp section - using it with a more powerful headphone amp like the MK V would be a great idea.

Me personally, I like my Whiplash Starving Student. It's got mountains of power.

Hows the Audio-GD Compass DAC/Amp compared to a Zero DAC/Preamp + Little Dot MKV Amp? I'm also curious as to how they'd do with the AKG K701 I guess. More likely to go with Beyers, but the AKGs are good headphones too.
