Yes, yes, yes. Me too, me too!

I would love a BrownDog adapter for a AD8620!!! I can't wait to put it in my META. However, I really don't need 5 of them from the website. Does anyone have one they want to sell?? Please?? Pretty please...

where can I get a free sample of the ad8620??

Guys, samples are for people who are trying to decide among chips, and will eventually buy lots of whatever chip they decide on. Ordering samples for the sole purpose of populating a board is lame. Spend the $24 and buy the chips. Sheesh.

which would be better to use. . . 8620 or 8610?

The 8620 is just the dual version of the 8610. Since two 8610s are the same price as one 8620, and the two Brown Dog adapters are the same cost, there's no cost advantage to going with the AD8620. The AD8610s are supposed to be a smidge better (superior channel isolation, perhaps.) The only advantage to the AD8620 is that it's quicker to solder one to the adapter. Maybe someday when Newark starts carrying these chips, the AD8620 will be cheaper than 2xAD8610....

Why pay through the nose for the OPA627 when you could be using the AD8610/20 instead, which sounds better and is less cranky?

Because some people like the Burr Brown sound. I just had one of my amp customers tell me he preferred the OPA627 to the AD843. Personally, I like the AD843 better, but everyone's different. Given two chips with the same level of overall performance (like the 627 and the 843), the choice between them is definitely a matter of taste.

Seems like WAY too much hassle getting those little adapters if I can't get it the next time I make a large purchase from Digi-Key, Newark, or Mouser or locally from Radioshack. I think I will stick with the OPA627 or OPA637. Even if we pool up and someone buys a pack of five shipping those individual things will cost a bundle.

For the op-amp...yes. Unless you want to add a DIP socket so you can swap out op-amps.

One of you could buy 5 of either or both BrownDog adapters and split them with the others. Heh, resell them for $5 including shipping.

It's more of a pain than it is worth for most people. That is why BrownDog does not sell them in single quantity. It is too much trouble for so little profit.

Would there be interest in ordering a whole bunch of AD8610/20 and then reselling them to the rest of DIYers? I need to buy a few myself for a couple of portable DACs (my boxes arrived today and just ordered prototypes for PCB) so I'll be ordering a few anyway. The price is a bit of a problem, Would it be worthwhile to order 100 and would they sell? That's a US$600 investment plus 14% tax if I were to buy it. Maybe a group buy?

I'd be in for some AD8620s, but 100 is a lot to sell. And, unless I misread my invoice, the 8620s are $12.00USD each and 8610s are $6.00.

BTW, the mods cannot set the post titles, only Jude can. And he has been kinda busy lately, something about earning a living.

Yes, AD8620 is $12 and AD8610 is $6, I was thinking abot 100 of AD8610 as they're more flexible and most people are using adapters so it doesn't matter too much for them.

But if you wouldn't go for, say, splitting an order of 100, so 50 * 6 = $300, I don't think there's anybody else who would

. It seems that many people who would want some of these chips abuse the system and get samples to use in their amps, so the prospect of re-selling them is not very bright...

That explains that

. I was just kind of childish, not that the title matters that much but I was posting a little bit more these few weeks in order to get it over 500...

I'd like to get a pair of 8610's and a Brown Dog Adaptor as well. Looks like we can at least put a collective order in for those here?
