Preamp as a headphone amp?

Is that possible?
How can I mod a standard tube preamp to use it with high-impendance headphones? ((300 ohm))
Should I change the output capacitors to fully enjoy the tubes?
Should I buy a headphone amp instead although costs 40% more?

Modding your preamp to drive headphones would most likely require you to add output transformers to better match impedance.

Second, the power output of your preamp may not be adequate. Part of that power would be dissipated in the output transformers, as well.

You could build an amplification stage to go behind your preamp with the output transformers, but that would be pretty much the same thing as buying a dedicated headphone amp. If you really want to do it, you can, but you're not going to save much, if any, money over a dedicated amp.

You could try building a discrete buffer.
