What is sub bass? Below 20Hz? Non-audible but felt? Felt how?
"Sub-bass sounds are the deep, low-register pitches below approximately 70 Hz and extending downward to include the lowest frequency humans can hear, approximately 20 Hz". This is what separates the HD660S from the closed Fostex TH900 and X00 ebony, or planars like LCD-2 and HE-6, or TOTL dynamics like the ADX5000. The presence of the deepest bass gives the fundamentality and tactility of instruments, especially bass and drums, more oomph to music. The HD660S are very balanced headphones, but their lower bass is not very pronounced, that's true. You can find any tone generator on the Internet and listen to frequencies below 100 Hz at a volume above average, you will roughly understand how these frequencies sound.
