Hi
Im trying to build a system around the K1000.
I have a Melos Pre Amp and an old Technics 50w amplifier.
My question is .... will the technics amp try and add its own flavor to the music or will it realise the preamp has already done the work and just amplify the signal?
The amp is a Technics SU-V2X and has controls for Bass, Treble etc which look like bad news to me.
The Melos preamp has a good reputation, and i dont want the cheap amplifier to distort/reduce the quality of the signal to the K1000's. I want the amp to simply boost the signal.
The K1000s only need 5 - 7 watts per channel, so there's plenty of power.
Just wondering what people think about this?

Advice woud be great

Thanks

Most likely, nobody can answer this question. It's really up to you own ears to decide and let them be the judge. If it sounds good to you, then that's all that matters.

Every amp colors the sound to some extent.

My advice would be to try the K-1000 with what you have. If you enjoy the sound you won't need to buy anything else.

Sadly it is not all that simple.
Most (all?) electronic circuits colors the sound in some way, regardless if it cd player, pre-amp, power amp, ... So matching components against your preference is the way to go.

Worth giving it a go at least, as for all we know you may like it.
