I'm considering this amp and wondered whether the op-amp upgrade makes a worthwhile change to the sound, and what changes are most obvious.

Also, are there any other chips to be considered? What's a good online source for single chip purchases?

Thanks for any thoughts...

In short, yes. I consider AD8620 a major upgrade from the stock OPA2134. Note that AD8620 is in SMD package so you will need an adapter. You can buy AD8620 pre-mounted on Browndog adapter directly from Browndog manufacturer, or you can get it from Practical Devices pre-mounted on an (different) adapter. The one from Practical Devices is actually smaller in footprint and fits better inside.

Thank you for your reply. Is the AD8620 the hot chip to use these days?

AD8620 is a really decent sounding opamp. Some find it too neutral and revealing, but I personally like it that way. Consider it is also used in Meier Audio's Corda Move/2MOVE/3MOVE/XXS/Headsix (dual AD8610, the mono-channel version of AD8620), AMB M³ (3 AD8610) and a bunch of other portable amps, that should tell you how good this opamp is.
