I originally started another thread in regards to the Swan M200's. However, I've come to the realization that they do not meet my size requirements. Therefore, I'm looking for some tips on a pair of good quality, powered monitors under $200 and under 11" in height. I'm looking to hook these directly to either my current AV-710, or a soon to be acquired EMU 0404.

Thanks so much guys!

Can you do sub/sat's? Maybe the sub can go on the floor, and the satellites on top wherever.

There's a brand I'm thinking of, I have a set at home but haven't pulled them out in a while. They are flat panel speakers a la monsoon, with a rectangular subwoofer. It's been a while since I used them, but they are very nice for music, and were on sale for $150/set when I got them.

When I get home tonight I can find the name if you're interested....

Thanks,

...Proton 301's - you won't be sorry. I'm not. They're good for nearfield listening, too.

I looked into Edirol MA-20Ds or MA-10Ds a while back, they look like a great bank for the buck and there are some very positive reviews of them out there. And they have a built in DAC which could come in handy. You can
find the 20Ds (bigger woofer) on ebay for ~$200-225

I would spring for the Swan M200. They seem to really well regarded. But I have not heard them. They're 170 over at Newegg. Personally, I would go with the M-Audio speakers. I had a chance to listen to them at the local Guitar Center. They sound quite good.
