Late 90's - Sony Discman (holy crap everyone had that)
2003 - iRiver IHP-120 (now 30gb, and rockboxed)
....
....
....
Well it's been my daily player for 5 years and hasn't skipped a beat - looks real mangled due to being one of the first with the paint problem, but other than that... battery still holds 14+ hours playing VBR Alt/preset/extreme

Long live the IHP!!

I can barely remember what I had in he nineties lol!

Pre 2003 - various CD players

2003 - 2005 - Sony MD player forgot what model

2005 - Crappy MP3 player

2006 - iPod Shuffle 1G

2007 - Sony A810 (Imported from Japan on release date) (One of the best I've heard out of my stock)

2008 - Samsung P2 (Bought on release date, might of been 2007 but forgot when it was!)

2009 - Sansa Clip v1

2009 - iPod Touch 3g 64GB (Present player)

Well use my touch for casual listening, or on the go. Also used for the apps and games. More laid back listening would use clip or Sony. Samsung P2 somewhere in the house.

Forgot to mention, at times would use my phone for music on the standard supplied buds, my god they were awful! Some include, Moto E398 (dedicated music phone in those days with flashing lights which dance to the music, quite cool), Sony E P1i, Sony W810i, Nokia 5800, currently Blackberry 9700 (has decent SQ).

2010+: Some decent 128gb+ Flash based players with on board flac support, high quality DAC..... wonder who'll be the first to release something...

Oh! A resurrected thread! Me like!

Pre 2003: Various portable cassette players (never got into the portable CD player race)

2003-2005: Creative Nomad Jukebox 3

2005-2007; 2009-: Creative Zen Touch (HDD died in 2007, CF-modded it in 2009)

2007- : Sansa View

2009- : Cowon S9

2009- : Creative Zen Vision:M (bought one with broken HDD on Ebay and CF-modded it)

2010- : iRiver H120 (bought used from Ebay)

2010- : Sony MZ-NH900 MiniDisc player (used from Ebay)

2010- : Kenwood HD20GA7 (used from Japanese Yahoo auction)

2010- : JVC XA-HD500 (used from Japanese Yahoo auction)

I might also get a used Nomad Jukebox 3 for old times sake. Then my collection is complete. Newer DAP:s do not really interest me. The Cowon S9 with touchscreen and bells and whistles was interesting at first, but it is not as charming as the older bricks.

As you can see, I have fallen into the "I just have to buy another one" trap pretty hard. But I finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, and except wanting a Nomad Jukebox 3 again I do not feel that I am interested in another DAP. Now, headphones is a completely different thing...

Well, at least I am not a car collector, so my hobby is relatively inexpensive...
