DNA doc, You added in the light falloff effect, but I don't think it adds to the picture in this case. I think it's because it's not just in the 4 corners, but it's also along most of the sides of the picture. The way you have framed the pictures though, there is important detail around the edges, so to darken it is what is throwing me off.

The effect is cool for some shots, but I don't think it helps here. If anything, I probably would prefer it without it in these shots.

Now if you had done a pulled back version of the whole car, then a vignette effect may be in order.

dvessel, I see the monster. It looks a lot like the creature from the movie Alien.

I really like the one that looks like smoke from burning incense also.
Thanks for puttin' some spice in the pot.

Haven't taken photos for a while. These are from my Nikon D70. Most with the stock 17-70mm lens.

Love the third one

Towert7: Those roses are stunning! I love the contrast.

I guess I'll actually share a few for once. Here are some shots I took while I was up in NH this past week:

Yeah, there are a couple of faces too. I wanted to take that idea further hinting at specific forms. Make it look all creepy in a subtle way. It kinda does that now but not to the degree I want it. I'll explore that one day.

That's cigarette smoke straight out of my mouth. Only way to make it come out dense. Used a remote SB-800 speedlight on the side. Brings in more contrast.

I think that was an abandoned brewery. Really bad neighborhood behind a gated area. The whole side of the building just collapsed.

Thanks guys for the comments.

Hi Towert7,

Thanks for taking the time to look at to comment on the shots. For the detail shots, I'm inclined to agree with you, but for the two whole-car shots, I definitely prefer the vignette. In any event, these were just impromptu snapshots semi-automatically processed just to get them quickly out for my friend. Again, though- I appreciate your comments. Thanks.

A few of my favorite pair of cornsnakes. I've had these two since they were eggs, and this year was their first mating. I just hatched out a nice clutch of 10 hatchlings, and all are doing well.

Here is mom, a beautiful amelanistic:

Here's dad, a very nice snow corn (amelanistic and anerythristic):

And here they are together:

And those sunset pictures are equally as stunning!
It's funny also that you have that jack stand. I used to use them all the time.

Thanks for the nice comment!

I see you noticed the same thing that I did.
Keep up the nice work!

Back to messing with macro shots today. Unfortunately, my complex experiment failed dramatically, but I took some simpler shots while I was at it

hembergler, nice sunset shots.

Karo, that warehouse looks scary!

I've just got my Carl Zeiss Jena Pancolar 50mm 1.8 from evilbay and was testing it out on my 40D this morning at the local Botanical Gardens.

I'm loving it so far. Excellent, EXCELLENT resolution even wide open at f1.8.
Wonderful color, contrast and bokeh as well.

Here are a few samples. (all wide open)
