I must admit, I'm a sucker for melodic pop/rock/folk-songs that you can't get out of your mind for weeks. These are the albums I have been listening to most frequently in 2007:

Robert Gomez - Brand New Towns
Simply the most brilliant melodic compositions I've heard all year

Storyhill - Storyhill
Wonderful folk/pop songs reminiscent of The Jayhawks or Simon & Garfunkel

Do The Undo - Do The Undo
Hook-laden rock songs built on pretty melodies

Oh, and I know the OP said no rap/hip hop but Run DMC is too good not to list regardless of genre. They beat out most "rock" bands in my opinion.

A Denton act! That album was produced by the same guy who played drums on the album I posted (Aqueduct) -- Matt Pence, a longstanding figure in the Denton/DFW music scene.

I listened to the samples and I like.
