Actually, december 9 is the day now, since saturdays are too busy at the store. I'll send out some emails soon I guess to let the others know.

The 9th! No stinking way I can make the 9th!!!!..Thats the same day as my okay I am not serious. 9th it is. I have heard that the F1 is now a discontinued model, and good luck finding one. I was finally ready to buy F1's and I called around and didn't find a pair anywhere. Poof! No more F1's. Closest design I can find now are them nasty old K1000's, and who in their right mind would want those?? I figure I can just make a bracket and hang a pair of mini monitors' from my head and get the same effect. So, I have started building a bracket out of metal and I figure I am looking at several pounds of metal and wood to get some mini monitors to hang from my head, so I have joined a gym to build up my neck...well anyway, the 9th sounds good to me.

Here's a place online that apparently stocks the F1 for a reasonable price:
http://shop.store.yahoo.com/avpronet/mdr-f1.html

and ebay's got one or two models up for grabs. Of course, the store I linked to may be out of stock or something, but I would imagine that the F1 is still out there if you want it bad enough (maybe if we're lucky they'll stick around like the V6). I'm not sure if I do or not...All I know is that I really want to try one out.

The F1's have been a kind of contraversial set of cans around this community. The sound has been described as bass shy, but to my ears that was not true. The bass was tight and well controlled and sounded very natural to me. I think some people presumed that the unusual design just had to be bass shy and that affected what they heard. The bass will not smack you in the head, like Grado's, but it sounded good to me.

The design was very comfortable and did not cause the overheated ears that I get with conventional cans.

All in all nice cans. (But it sucks to buy them without trying them first!) Maybe kwarth has a pair?
