Thank you, but the trouble with buying overseas and getting them shipped to the UK is that I'll probably have to pay some quite hefty import charges. Plus it'll make returns/repairs or what have you all the more complicated.

I think I'd just rather buy from somewhere in the UK, or possibly Europe. There prices are pretty ridiculous though aren't they!

So, if I were to buy from the UK, which would be the best value?

i agree, but that's a real big difference. Even with a tax/import duties i am still only on 150 euro's. The cheapest store found in eu is in italy: apstore, 160 euros. But getting an answer of those guy's a hard task. i've hadn't got any luck so far.

Livewires will ship internationally, there's a number of us in the UK that have them now. With the exchange rate they'll run to about £125 + shipping + import tax + audiologist fees (for the ear impressions). Can't remember the exact amount, but i got charged less than £20 in taxes, and my impressions were a tenner, although that figure seems to vary quite a bit.

I think the total cost of getting Livewires will be a little over what I'm willing to spend. In fact, to make this easier, I've narrowed it down to the following:
- Etymotic ER-6i (£65)
- D-JAYS (£70)
- Audio Technica CK7 (£70)
- Denon AH-C551 (£70)
- Denon AH-C700 (£70)

Or possibly these:
- Atrio M5 (£95)

I would recommend the Atrio M5/M8 (no difference in sound between the two models, just color), because of the price and its SQ. Sublime.

Considering their price compared to the 'phones I've listed for around £65-70, are they worth the extra?

I'm still looking for more suggestions for the best (value) IEM out of the new list I made, if you wouldn't mind.

Sorry for the triple posting, but I'd really like to buy a pair of IEMs today.

Which IEMs out of the following are easiest to buy a variety of different tips for?

- Etymotic ER-6i (£65)
- D-JAYS (£70)
- Audio Technica CK7 (£70)
- Denon AH-C551 (£70)
- Denon AH-C700 (£70)
- Atrio M5 (£95)

Which is better out of the C551 and C700?

Also, given their prices, which IEMs do you recommend out of the list above?

I'm no longer interested in the ER-4P or others in that price range, because I don't want to spend that much.

Thanks again.

Right, I think I'm pretty much set on getting the Atrio M5s now for £100 including shipping.

Do you think this is a good choice? Also, what tips do you recommend I get for these?

Hi, I wholeheartedly second your choice of the Atrio M5s. I got mine from Hand Held Audio and have been very happy with them, amped as well as unamped.

For tips, the Shure black foamies (olives) are a perfect match.

Are you in the UK, too? Are they easy to insert/remove? I really want a pair of earphones which I can put in and take out easily, which is making me sway towards canal 'phones rather than IEMs, although I still want isolation.

I've now been reading that many people prefer the Denon C700s to the Atrios, and I can get them £30 cheaper. Gah, I really don't know what to do. The main problem with the C700s, and C551s for that matter, is their lack of isolation.

Can anyone tell me if the C700s and C551s isolate more than the EP630s/CX300s? As long as it isolates more than my current canal 'phones I think I'd be happy.

Atrio's for sure!!! I use the bi-flanges that came with the Atrio and after a couple of months of use, they have softened up and are really comfy to wear all day long (about 6 hours of daily use!!!). They are very easy to put in and take out and sound fantastic! They have been compared by head-fiers to Westone UM2's, which are double the price so you will not find better value for money!!

If you are not too fussed about isolation, the C700 will isolate less as they are shallow fitting canal phones, the Atrio's are IEMs, the bi-flanges work well for me even on buses!

If you enjoy a fairly warm , noticeably bass orientated (I see you use DT770 's)sound signature , then IMO the Atrios would be a good choice. For best tips ; its really very much down to your own personal preference... and this varies a lot between Atrio owners . I'd recommend giving the supplied biflanges/foamies a really good try out first though (before buying alternatives) just in case ....... Over the past year I've tried and compared various different tips on the M5 , (including the Shure 'olives') but have always gone back to using the stock biflanges .

Thank you very much, navmau and subfocus. For everyone who buys Shure olives, is the medium size considered the "norm" around here? I'll probably buy them at the same time I order the Atrios, because I'm interested in trying them out regardless of the supplied tips.

Does anyone else have any input before I order a pair of M5s? Is it worth getting the Xtrememac FS1s for £60 for example instead, or maybe one of the other options I've listed?
