The PC300's mic seems to get a good review, as does the headphones themselves. Might see if I can get a way to demo them somehow.

I think for gaming, full headset is much better choice than earphone/mic.
My cheap $30 CAD microsoft headset with mic works better for FPS gaming (CS 1.6 in particular) than my Shure SE115 and Ultimate Ears superfi 4.
 
With the headset I find it easier to tell exactly where someone is whereas with my earphones, I can usually distinguish left or right but not exact location.
