I am looking to purchase an amp for my soon to be dt-770 pro's. I have to save up some money first, hehehe...
Anyway, I need a decent amp to use for the 770's, mostly at home, but when I go on trips, I would like quality sound on a airplane/train/bus, and it would help my iPod drive the headphones.

My budget is $100, but I may go a little bit over, if needed.

So, in summary, I need a headphone amp for $100, so it can drive an 80 ohm headset, that can be used mostly at home, but on trips occasionally.

I may have left some things out, so just tell me if I did.

Thanks!

In my opinion, you should first get a feel for how it sounds with the iPod (most models should have a serviceable internal amp without enough power for those unless you are listening very loudly) and whatever else you use.

Then there's a basis of comparison to figure out what might be appreciably better and what might not be.
