I can only recommend one NOT to get, simply because its the only head-amp I've had the chance to demo...the Firestone Audio Little Country III. It might work great with higher impedance cans, but not with the D5000's. It just cant drive them to a high volume without clipping...even on both gain settings. Now, I don't listen to my cans screaming loud, but the level I had to keep them at before clipping wasn't even THAT loud. There is no head room for the volume at all with the D5000's.
I use my C29 preamp that has a dedicated head-amp in it, and it drives these cans to insane volume levels WITHOUT clipping. I don't need a separate head-amp, luckily...I am just borrowing the Little Country III.
