I'm listening to my DT-880s right now--Jackson Browne, For Everyman, certainly not a bass heavy album--and the bass is all there and more, nice and tight, articulate with authority. They swing.

Hey I have experience with the V6, don't worry about it. It has good bass, but along with it it has recessed mids and sometimes grating highs (like the Grados). I believe you would be better served with any of the other phones listed here. The V6 is my low priced closed headphone.

Go and audition the grado sr225's if you can. To me they sound very similar to what high end porta pros would sound like.. they are maybe the least bright grados.

The dt770's have overwhelming muddy bass that seems to ruin the clarity of the mids.

I agree about the DT880's. Their bass is tight and not overwhelming. And the mids and treble are there without being taken out by the bass.
