Hey guys.
I was just wondering about this.
My cousin is sort of an audiofile, but he's a bit old school.
He likes Big speakers and Big amps and thick cables... hahahaha
But he really likes Super High Quality sound sources too.
I told him about FLAC and DSD Files that are Lossless.
He was happy to know about those, but He asked me how he could play that on his amp.

So i asked him if his amp had a USB connection on it... He said yes.
Then he said he read something about FLAC in the manual. But he didn't know what a FLAC file was back then.
Now he wants to download super high quality FLAC files, entire albums at a time.
So i was like cool that's perfect. But i'm not sure if they will play well on a USB thumb drive.
Will the music stutter? Is there enough throughput for FLAC or DSD files?
Or does he need to get an external hard drive? or will a cheap little 128 gig flash drive be enough?

Also. Will USB 1 or 2 be enough? or does it need to be USB 3 or 3.1?

Thanks :)

His amp may play files from a USB stick. The big problem may be how to navigate to titles on the USB stick. USB 2.0 has more than enough speed for high Rez files.

Awesome, thank you. So USB 2 or higher should be fine. That’s good to know.
he will have to figure out how to navigate to the files , or I will just help him.
if this works I think he’ll be very happy. He always complains about the crappy quality
of CD audio and MP3s.
thank you
