I don't mean to offend you, but I think after you live a bit longer and experience the world a bit more, you'll find that disney is JUST A COMPANY. they are not anyone's friend, no matter how they appear when in PR mode.

this is the same company that keeps 'steamboat willy' out of public domain again and again and again.

disney has a hugely evil side. you may be too close to the company to see it, though.

Disney is a company when it comes down to it, Disney exists first to make money but that is certainly not the only reason why it is as big and as successful as it is. Of course Disney has old skeletons in it's closet, ever heard of songs of the south? However I do not think that has much to do with all of the good things the company does for people, especially kids. Also just like every company it's made up of people, some massive faceless corporation didn't decide to send someone to this little girl's house, a few people did.

you'd have to be an idiot to not think Disney exists to make money but from what I saw there I can tell you just about everyone who works for a company like Disney is there because they believe in the values of the company and not for the money.

edit: I'd rather not have an "is disney evil or not" argument going on in a thread like this, if there's anything else you'd like to say just PM me.

Disney can be bad but it was the efforts of a few good people who pulled through. Although I have never been to any Disney worlds, everyone tells me that the Disney cruise ship is amazing. Someday I'll try the Disney cruise.

Disney is an amazing company, on multiple levels. I've worked in the entertainment industry for a long time and I can honestly say, with all sincerity, that the kindest people, especially towards children, that I have ever worked with has been at Disney.

Spareribs .. and anyone else who had never 'Disney-ed' .. be sure to do so at least once in your lifetime. While it may not have the same impact as in childhood, it's still one hell of an impact.

No, companies are not kind. Companies are about business. Disney's business is about children.

My hats off again to Pixar. For the small effort it took to fly the movie out there, it shows that somewhere there is the tiniest molecule of true civilization in this world you call humanity.

Btw...

Steamboat Willy -> "...recent evidence suggests that the film may be in the public domain due to technicalities related to the original copyright notice. The film has been selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry, maintained by the Library of Congress. In 1994, it was voted #13 of The 50 Greatest Cartoons of all time by members of the animation field."

Song of the South -> "...The film has never been released in its entirety on home video in the USA because of content which Disney executives believe would be construed by some as racially insensitive towards blacks and is thus subject to much rumor, although it does exist on home video in the UK and Japan."

Such a moving story. Hats off to Pixar for doing that.
It is good to hear a story like that when everyone's concern is money and box office.
By the way,I remember watching Song of the South in a screening when I was a Disney employee. The animation in the film is amazing. It is a shame that because of the content of the whole movie, the general public are missing out on some of the best animation work that we have ever seen.

Let's forget about all the underlying alterior motives and conspiracy theories that Disney/PIXAR may be harboring in this story. The fact is, a child died and she died fulfilled in a small way.

To all those dismissing this act of kindness as merely a stealth tactic of public relations let's pretend it was your child or loved one that had a dying wish. And some company knocked on your door to grant that wish. Would you turn them away?

I think not.

A big company finally does something for it's customers. Wow, touching story.
