Pioneer has released their new DJ headphones: HDJ 1500

They are supposed to be somewhere between the HDJ 500 and the popular HDJ 2000.

Here you can compare the basic info about the 3 headphones: http://pioneerdj.com/index_f.html#/en/products/hdj1500/more

From first looks, these look pretty damn good. Wonder how they'll compare to the other pioneer models and other dj headphones similarly priced.

They look nice, but mainly like a refined HDJ-1000. I'm curious to know how they sound compared to the HDJ2000.

I had a listen to these at BestBuy next to the HDJ-2000 (which I also own). It's a night and day difference, and not in a good way. Maybe it was a defective HDJ-1500 or something, but there was practically no bottom end and the remaining mid and upper end sounded very hollow. Isolation seemed about the same.

Weird? Anyone else tried a pair? I wanted the 2000's but I have waited because of these

I'm a little disappointed that I didn't take my chance to listen to these at Best Buy 2 days ago. Didn't realize they weren't HDJ1000s. :D

If you don't want to pay the premium for the 2000, the 500 is quite good and sounds similar (arguably bassier)

These are headphones with REALLY thick mids, wide-tubey bass, and recessed highs. That's what they sound like when plugged into an iphone 4. But I am getting a portable amplifier in like 3 weeks called the C&C BH portable amplifier. I'm gonna see what they sound like with a good amplifier opposed to the amp inside an iphone 4 and give a review
