I'll try to get a pic up. In the mean time I fear I've made it worse. I found two legs of an 8397 shorting. But my SMT soldering is, quite frankly, awful and the pads are so mangled that it's impossible to make a good connection now. Now I get no sound output.

I think I will stick to non-SMT from now on.

I fixed the IG shorting to IR problem. But I found a problem. On U1, pins 2 and three are showing continuity. BUt I can't see any stray solder in that area.

Make sure you haven't soldered the pins together on the other side of the board, it's very close to C3L.

Also, just found out via pinout on the AD8397 here http://www.analog.com/en/prod/0,,759_786_AD8397,00.html, pins 2 & 3 are IN- and IN+ which are connected inside the chip (I think).
