For me, there was music before Zeppelin, and music after Zeppelin, but after Zeppelin, music wasn't the same. Zeppelin's toughness and brutal colorations are like an existential scream. Robert Plant's voice like a demonic Stradivarius violin. And getting past the ubiquity of Stairway to Heaven, this song's poetry would make Emily Dickinson peer over the clouds. I know nothing about music. What I do know is that for many people the world is an ugly place. Led Zeppelin gives this place a voice, and yet, inspires the courage to carry on despite it all. Plus, Zeppelin just rocks!
