I've always found eatign contests to be disgusting. Not for the physicality of what goes on during one. But because of the societal connotations.
On the bright side, I love seeing this wee Japanese guy trouncing the 500 pound Americans at eating vast amounts of nosh.

Kobayashi is just amazing.
He set a new world record this year- 53 3/4 hot dogs in 12 minutes, narrowly beating his 2004 record of 53 1/2 hot dogs.
But the competition was tougher this year. Another guy ate 53, and Kobayashi only passed him with about three minutes left.

Kobayashi is one unreal eating machine for a person of his size. He has set multiple records in various food eating contest besides hot dogs and his training regiment in preparation for the various eat contest is enormous as it was featured once on the Food network channel.
