i just bought it today, (199 CAN!) and i can't wait to hear it.
i think i'm going to pick up a pair of senn 201 or akg k26 for plane travel. as you can see, i am not an audiophile, or on a good budget, but i love it!

Beautiful. Website pics don't do it justice; I actually like the pearl color more than the original.

one more pic =) hehe, thanks for the comments.

Head-Fi has been very good to me, even if I don't post very often, I read up a lot and although price was the biggest factor for me, posts about the carbon here were all very good and made it seem like the perfect player for me.

So far (the first 2 hours lol) it is perfect for me

it is very easy to move music, there is not too bad of a gap between songs, and it is very easy to navigate.

I LOVE the fact that I don't need software to move music. I was also really happy about the charger...it has adaptors for well, I certainly don't know what, but since I am travelling to Europe next year, I'm sure they'll come in handy!

Let's certainly a lot of compelling photos here and many good photographers. My images don't measure up well but here goes... my iPod 40gb, SR-71 all carried in a Waterfield iPod bag.

Maybe try and save up for Sony EX71's or 81's if you can, little over your stated budget, but should be an improvement over those, not bad for the price (if a bit bassy).

It's not how much you can spend, but how much you can enjoy your music in the end.

I believe the EX51s can be had for about $30.

Oh and welcome to head-fi, sorry about your wallet (allowance I'd imagine in your case).
