3 pics of 8P. I made a mistake. 8P uses 2 Philips EC92s as voltage gain, and 8 Mullard EL91s as output stage. No output transformer, it is an OTL design. And can be used as a pre-amp.

The power supply part is actually a very strong point. It is a pity I can't open the black box which holds it. You can see it at the left hand side of the amp.
It is very heavy, no less heavy than a decent integrated amp. And most importantly, it sounds magnificent! I have tried HD600, K501, W100, DT931 with it. The results are, let me pick the right word, the results leave nothing to be desired, at least for me.
Due to the absense of an output tranny, it doesn't sound "tuby", so tube-manias might not like it. It is natural-sounding, with full and ultra-detailed sonic characters. I am at a loss to find more words to describe it.
Specs:
1) Distortion: less than 0.1%;
2) S/N ratio: better than 90dB;
3) Input impedance: 50kohm
4) Frequency range:
10Hz - 70kHz (+/- 0.2 dB) 32 ohm
10Hz - 50kHz (+/- 0.2 dB) 300 ohm
If we allow +/- 3 dB, the range is a stunning 4 Hz - 200 kHz!
5) Input sensitivity: 0.7 V
6) Power consumption: 50 W
7) Weight: 8.5 Kg

Gorgeous. Thank you for posting.

I only counted 10 tubes, were they all power stage?

I wish I had friends who built over-the-wall headphone amps like that.

What's the second knob for?

I was wrong. It has 10 tubes, 2 EC92s as voltage gain, and 8 EL91s as power amp stage.
Two knobs, one for volumn and the other for input selection. There are three inputs. So can be used as a pre-amp.

Yeah, I figured that out eventually, when I finished...I was too busy drooling over the pictures to actually read the accompanying text, which I finally did.

Tx!

EDIT: Now I'm too busy drooling over the spec's. +/- 0.2 db?!?!?

(passes out)

This post has brought in a number of Chinese headphone lovers.
8P is a perfect match for Grado headphones. Yeli himself tried it with RS1 and the results are stunning. My friends in Beijing said RS1 + 8P were a perfect match.

Puts jaw back in socket.

How much? Will it work in the U.S., or does China have different electrical standard? Any way to get one to the States?

Those of you interested should check out this thread, in which solomon pretty much explains that, unless a previous owner decides to sell his, or Yeli has a life-changing experience, we are all SOL.

1) I paid Mr Yeli 4,200 Chinese dollars (500 US dollars) for the 8P, shipped from Beijing to Shanghai.
2) In China the electric standard is 220V. But I believe Yeli can make it 110V. The problem is he does all this out of personal hobby ......
3) I will talk to Yeli to find out if he is willing to share with us the schematic.

I guess it would be cheaper to go to China and get one there than have it shipped to the Western Hemisphere. Just like Joe Lau says.
