I need to replace my beloved Esound CD-E5 with a dac. I am going to a pc based setup. Not sure if I should go with a NOS Dac or upsampled (which the Esound is).
I have a pass Labs X150 amp, A Supratek Chardonnay preamp and Eminent Tech. 8A planar speakers.
The system is a little laid back dynamically but very revealing and clean. I want to spend no more than around $600.
Some Possible choices are:
Audio GD 19MK4
MDHT Havana NOS (over budget new)
Chameleon DAC
I have been told by a company that does mods to DAC that the PS Audio - Digital Link III is on the same level as my Esound. So I'd like to move up if possible.
