Yes Uncle Dan, SACD is great if you can find a good SACD you like to listen to . I think most people already have a vast CD collection and to make the most of it a quality redbook cd player is a must.

And until they do come out, most of my listening will be 2 ch cd.

Phillips has a record for shoddy workmanship. Luck is a big factor in terms of reliability.

As a 963SA owner, I haven't experienced any of the noise issues addressed by Pigmode, but it seems to me that the luck factor with any name brand product can be avoided by hunting down a great deal from a vendor with a practical exchange policy.

At the moment, I'm more concerned about SACD *format* longevity than the longevity of my SACD player.

I'd like very much to hear the MMFCD25, though I see little very future in XCD. And I'm not sure that darker is better in any case.
