Philips Fidelio X3

These are currently $208 on amazon. I loved the X2HR for a time and was so excited for the X3, but ended up holding off. Debating whether I should try these now. Primary use would be gaming. Is anyone enjoying them?
They're excellent for gaming provided you don't need a mic. The X2HR and vmoda boom mic combo are a match made in heaven, but the X3 is without doubt a step up for gaming (in the same respect the DT1990 is from the X2HR).

Times really fly fast by. When was the X3 released officially? The cheapest I found here in the Netherlands is €199.

So I was able to pick up one of these from B&H Photo Video for 130 bucks on Black Friday; was really surprised by the price of them, but I’m happy with the sound. It’s a departure from past Fidelio full-sized headphones, but in a direction I personally prefer tonality-wise. Does anyone know of a shorter cable for them that is currently in stock?

Use att clip to coil the cable/make it shorter

I just ordered mine for 155€, hope I enjoy them. I've been using my hd558 for 6 years now, but since I see some people say that they sound close to the hd600, I figured they'd hit somewhat close to home. Now I just gotta start digging the rabit hole of amps and dacs

Oh lord wish my wallet well.

At 155 USD it is a bargain. To me they are, on this forum the least, a hugely underrated pair of headphones. Tech sites and traditional hifi magazines gave them lots of praise, but well, those sites/magazine give everything praise.
Close in sound to the HD600s? Not really. I know when I first got them I compared them to the HD650s and I found many similarities. But in the end they are vastly different. The X3s have a much wider soundstage, depth and instrument separation is better to my ears. The mids are a bit laid-back compared to the Senns, but less so than the X2HRS and the treble from 6k to 8K is peaky and can be fatiguing for those who are sensitive to highs.
I find the HD650s to be more detailed in the mids, their professional mixing roots come to play. Not that I find the HD650 to be analytical, far from it, but the X3s go for a more casual consumer experience, the music as a whole. Sure they have clarity and details enough to hear clear differences between recordings, acoustics of the room where it was recorded and so on, but it is less obvious. It is a casual pair of headphones first, but with a pretty good tonal balance that is closer to neutral than fun v-shaped.

That is putting it mildly. Treble peaks +10db relative to midrange and it's worse because it peaks +15db compared to surrounding frequencies. That is objectively one of the biggest treble peaks out there. So you don't really need to be particularly treble sensitive to find the treble tuning on X3 offensive.

I read a lot of your posts earlier, and read some youtube comments of people who bought them (I think I saw two people comparing them to HD600, but I'm not sure), which is what tipped me to buy them, especially at the price. I've seen people either love them or hate them.

I've never really listened to any major hifi headphones, the closest I've come to it is my 558's, but I know I prefer a somewhat neutral sound. So I figured at the prize I didn't have much to lose 😃

Now I just need to find a decent dac and amp to pair with them.

Works ok with magni 3
Sound a bit sharper on xcan and tr-amp.
Maybe a vali2+ is a good cheap combo or a darkvoice.
