new complaint

make a post and the time stamp on it recognises my time zone and sets it accordingly to the time relative to me.  ie if i post at 12:30 it says 12:30.

realise 5 seconds after posting you made a totally stupid typo as i am want to do the time stamp on the edit seems to think its 5 hours ahead, a time zone that only has pakistan, turmenistan, uzbekistan, tajikistan, the maldives and a swath of russia and kazikstan. What?

and people saying they don't like stickies..ok so on the old forum they needed to be sorted out but some of them were critical..for instance, warning users of scammers in the for sale sections

There are many things related to the transition still left to do.  I'm hoping this weekend to put up Sticky Wikis* (if it's not obvious, I'm not a branding specialist).  Then, at the top of each sub-forum will be a link to at least one Sticky Wiki (within which will be links to at least some of the posts that were previously stickied).

To answer your first question (quoted above): I don't think I've ever read or received missives of love for the stickies as they were.

*Sticky Wiki is a tentative name.

in fairness jude alot of things look alot better now, it is returning to what a forum should look like, but I still hate there being no page count on the thread lists :frowning2:

i didnt mean it as suggesting jude had to ask permission or anything, its his site and he can do what he likes with it.  what i meant was if this change had been known people could have had the opportunity to say "hold on a sec, i really love XYZ about the site, loosing that would really be a problem for me and the community as a whole."  if nothing else people might have just had warning that boom all these things are going and thats that.  to me it seems people didnt know the site was changing at all (i got an email from one member asking if i knew the site was down for an upgrade) clearly some didnt the notice the notice that went up and even that was only there for a couple of days before the event.  i know some one who was deeply unhappy about the sudden loss of the friends list and compounded by the fact they had no warning it was going.

i feel a little informing before hand would have meant people wouldnt have been so shocked by the changes and losses.

Yeah, I feel you.  The main problem with asking for input beforehand is that people aren't generally aware of what they like/need until it's gone.  I never would have said, "Hey, keep the page navigation below each thread!"  Mainly because I never would have expected not to have it.

I can't disagree with more of a warning.

i am begining to get used to the new design and feel more comfortable with it,but i still dont like it....or ever will like it like the old one.
the biggest problem right now that is annoying me is that there is no activity on headfi. No new threads,no reviews,no new posts...it seems that no one want to log in and talk about gears, thus i am also spending less time because of this.

there are many problems right now but Jude is working hard to solve them so i wont complain anymore.
i just wish that headfiers begin to log in again;(

midoo1990, I'm not sure what you're referring to, as the number of new threads and posts per day hasn't decreased at all, nor has the number of users (registered and unregistered) logging in.  The user's online counter isn't the same as the one we had before, and that one reads differently (lower) than it did on vBulletin.

As for problems/glitches/recommendations, we're working on them as fast as we can, and I thank you for your patience.

i know but the new members are the one that post.most of the old headfiers dont log anymore(atleast what i know of) and i just feel that the activity is slow, maybe i am imagining but old members are not posting as much as before.

The new users far outnumber veterans on any day, but, of course, I'd like to see veteran members posting more, too.  There's just such a heavy influx of new blood all the time that I don't think that the newbies will ever be outnumbered here.

The veterans are still active, they just are picky with the forums and threads.

By the way, how should a Head-Fi veteran be defined? Posts, time of membership, audio gear experience?
