When I tried to post a new thread in the FS forum, a dialogue box popped up, saying, "Permission denied!" and then nothing else.

I'm wondering, is this is actually a bug, or have I done something wrong or against the rules? I was concerned for a moment that I had been banned... There seems to be a huge number of bannings recently that haven't necessarily been apparent as to why. Of course, no disrespect to the mods, but it just seems to be happening much more frequently and to many respected members...

I was going to post a WTB ad and got the same thing.

Now when I look at the FS forums it's divided into two subs, Archive and Classifieds. I guess the new Classified sections is where you post your ads. I had a draft going during the switch and I guess when I tried and submit it had changed, thus the permission denied throw.

I only see one and don't see how to view all of them. Maybe it's just because only one person has posted one since the switch.

I'll wait until someone else posts another before I post mine. It doesn't look right.

That's interesting. Where is the "Classifieds" section? I can't seem to find it...

If you are browsing all the forums, click any equipment sub-forum under the general for sale/trade section. For example "Headphones For Sale/Trade." It should show you another sub forum for archives, where you can no longer make a new thread. Underneath is the current forum you selected (Headphones For Sale/Trade) and should list all the current ads.

Some equipment sub forums don't have any listing yet so you might not see anything under certain ones.

Oh, I see where that is....

How horrendous and confusing. I really miss the old Head-Fi

This is definitely confusing. How are people going to see older ads that weren't posted in the new FS section if they don't specifically look in the "Archives"?

This makes me a very sad panda.

Clarinetman, bans happen when people repeatedly break the rules.

Save for people showing up to post Viagra ads, there are always several warnings given before a ban.

Further, bans are discussed privately and only given after a consensus is reached.

You'll have to take my word for it, but members don't know the reason because we remove the offending material. Some of it is from repeatedly breaking ordinary rules, and sometimes, there are spectacular displays of rule-breaking. We clean that up to keep discussions on topic. The policy is not to publicly humiliate people, which would happen if the dirty laundry was left out.

If anyone has questions about the rules, feel free to PM me or another mod. Please note that we do NOT discuss bans other than among ourselves and with the banned member.

As for the For Sale Forum, it is in transition to a different format. Jude and the Huddler team have been working very hard on this for awhile. I believe that a public announcement about the new features is forthcoming.

If you get "Permission Denied", the forums might have logged you out.  Sometimes if I open too many Head-fi tabs too quickly the system throws me out and I have to log in again.  The other thing that might have happened is you tried to access a thread that was removed.

Oh, by the way, there aren't a lot of people being banned.  There are a handful of banned people who repeatedly re-register and post a lot before being noticed, so it might appear worse than it really is.  The bright-red "BANNED" tag probably doesn't help that.

Also, what Uncle Erik said.

I think what might be happening is that when we put the new Gear For Sale/Trade system in place, we froze the creation of new threads in the old Gear For Sale/Trade forums.

Responses in the old Gear FS/T forums are still allowed, but new threads are not.  To post an item for sale, please use the new Gear FS/T system.

Alright, thanks for all of your responses. I think I get it now

The new system is actually a little easier to navigate, kind of just more tactile. I think I like it.
