Are there adapters for PCI>PCIe and for PCIe>PCI? If you PCIe>PCI can you potentially lose some performance?

No such thing as pci>pci-e, afaik

there are some pci-e x1 > pci adapters, should your newer motherboards not have enough legacy slots

it uses the same bridge as the STX.

it doesn't seem to feed 12V to the PCI card, so make sure your card only needs 5V and possibly 3.3V(it didn't work on my HD2 but worked fine on NIC's).

why would you WANT to adapt a pci to pci-e, etc?

does not sound like a good idea. yes, pci is actually a bridge below faster buses but what kind of card is 'so valuable' that it needs this kind of user-level hack?

There are quite a few products out there for adapting from PCI-E to PCI..etc.
However as was asked, what are you plans for such a device?

free some room for some big *** GPU cooler? I tried and I failed, was worth a shot

The card is an Asus Essence Xonar ST, the newer PCI card. If PCI is phased out, I'd want to use it with a PCIe slot.
