Hey folks.  I want to get new batteries for my Panasonic SL-CT710.  Was wondering if any of you guys had experience with something like this.  The batteries it came with are the Panasonic RP-BP61.  Looking on their parts site for my player, they sell batteries labeled RP-BP61PYD, RP-BP61PYS11, and HHF-AZ01 (!!).  To further complicate this, the two with model names similar to the first are different prices.  huh.  the HHF battery is a Ni-Mh instead of a Ni-Cad.  IRC friends have posited that the players circuitry can probably charge the Ni-Mh, and if so, it's better.  I'm confused as to why there are all these different batteries and am having trouble hunting down information on the web, so I hope someone here that had one of these PCDPs and has been keeping it working might have some insight.  Thanks!

I presume your PCDP uses NiCd (they usually do), but in any case NiMH will work as well (but not the other way around). Just get yourself some NiHM. They usually are larger in capacity and take longer to charge, but at the same time they run longer as well.

According to the owner's manual (that you can download here: http://service.us.panasonic.com/OPERMANPDF/SLCT710.PDF ), the recommended replacement batteries are the Panasonic HHF-AZ01 rechargeable Ni-MH.  These are the same as the Sony NH-14WM gumsticks.  You can buy those here: http://www.meritline.com/1350mah-rechargeable-battery-for-sony-walkman-cd---p-38275.aspx

Huh.  somehow, despite downloading the owner's manual and reading through it, I missed that.  I am a blockhead.

ahh..I remember when i was gonna get the slim line of iriver's to replace the 250 that died on me. I'm kinda glad I just fell into the zen vision M from there instead.

Why are you still kicking around with this thing instead of at minimum, a clip+?

oh, no, I need more DAPs like I need a hole in the head.  I just abhor a source that isn't working for a reason I can fix.
