I just want to make sure the OP understands that you can order the Schiit Modi in *either* USB or optical - it does NOT do both.

Disable X-Fi CMSS-3D, enable Razer Surround.  I think Windows is meant to be set to stereo and the game in question should be set to 7.1?  It has been a while since I used it.

 
I am not sure as to why, but my particular sound card and its software do not offer X-Fi CMSS-3D.
