Well, new and interesting update guys

I get a package today... finally... and I'm 100% certain there is nothing inside. Furthermore, the item is addressed to me from "ebay" and not the seller.

Unbelievable. I'm so happy that I didn't cancel the claim, but now I have no leverage since he provided a tracking number

What should I do next? This is just ridiculous, and not what I need to be dealing with right now. I can't believe some people can be so ****ing amoral, first with the lying and now this

By the way, this is supposed to be a CD3000. Unless the headphones weigh less than a feather there is nothing in the box

Did you also file a claim with Ebay? I would file a claim with Ebay stating that you never received the item. Also, if you used a Credit Card with Paypal, I would dispute the charge stating that you never received the item. Is there anywhere on the shipping label that gives the weight? If the weight shows as 1 lb, then that's a pretty good indication that the headphones were never shipped in that box. You may want to hang on the that label as evidence.

Man, I hope everything works out. I don't think I've ever heard of someone actually shipping an empty box, but considering some of the fools on Ebay, I'm not surprised.

Go online find out the weight of the phones, weight the box. Dont open it if it doesn't weight the item + some. It happens that sometimes people do this as criminal as it is. 200 miles is nothing return to sender in person!

And this is a seller who has almost perfect feedback to boot

Unfortunately, I didn't pay with a Credit Card. There is also no weight listed on the package. The seller probably went to great lengths to make sure that isn't there

I delivery confirmation slip is on the package though, and it is linked to him through Paypal. Also, it looks like a 7 year old wrote the address looking at the handwriting

I have never been through a Paypal claim so I have no idea what to expect. I'm not sure what to really do next

This really sucks, but I'm not going to let it ruin my day.

That's good advice.

There has to be a weight somewhere you can find out, the whole pricing structure for posting is based on weight. The first thing I have to do when sending parcels is weigh it.

I don't even have to weigh the box. As soon as I picked it up I knew there was nothing inside, and the box is overly small to be housing those huge things.

Also, like I mentioned, I do not know the seller's address. It wasn't provided to me in ebay and he didn't write on the package (hmm, I wonder why? *******).

There is a series of numbers under the price, which I suspect might what you're talking about. I have no idea how to decipher them though

Well, the scumbag already left me a retaliatory feedback as expected

This sucks, cause I've always wanted to hear these cans and I bet the seller never was even in possession of them.

One quick question: What can I do about the fact that he sent an empty box? Is there any way I can prove this to Paypal, especially since I didn't open it yet?

I'm not feeling overly optimistic about my chances of getting the money back because of the tracking number, but I'll do what I can. Really leaves a sour taste in my mouth... ugh

Be careful people, I'm sure this is not the only seller who inflated his his feedback to make me look like the bad guy after the scam. I have to keep in mind to always pay with CC from now on.

I would contact Paypal to let them know the box was shipped empty and you know this based on the weight of the box. The seller providing you a tracking number does not mean you received the item. You may want to weigh it somewhere and take a pic of the scale reading. If the package was shipped via UPS or FEDEX, the weight will be on the tracking information. Regardless, you need to let Paypal know that the box was received empty and that it is still unopened.

Hey,

I've already called Paypal and they told me to open the box... so I did. Nothing inside as I imagined, and absolutely no signs of any abuse to the box. The seller was even too cheap to put some other crap inside and paid a whopping $3 to ship it. Described the situation and they closed the claimed and opened another, more accurate, one. Now it's filed under "item not as described"

Anyhow, that's more info than anyone here would ever care to hear, so I'll stop. Hopefully someone can use this thread as a reference if they happen to fall into a similar conundrum

thanks for all the help ecclesand and others
