Pads make a huge difference, at least on the DT990

The 926.679 aka EDT990V earpads are mounted on a piece of plastic. They will not fit the old classic DT990.
Believe me, I tried.

The pads I got are the 926.679 aka EDT990V, so they are for the DT990. They fit on the original DT990 as well, no problem whatsoever.
The confusion was that the manual that came with them had instructions for other cans as well including DT770.

24 hours under a stack of dictionaries. Gonna give them a shot now, they look much flatter.

Much better. Think I'll give them another 24 hours though.

Put them in a plastic bag, then park your car on it. Should be a faster process.

The plastic ring is how they mount those pads to the DTx11 line, iirc, which have a different baffle design vs. the 770/880/990.

For DT990, etc, you simply separate the plastic ring from the earpad. It's not hard. I think there's even little cartoon instructions included with the pads that explain this.

I bought EDT990V pads from Michael Manny at Beyer a couple years ago, and they came mounted on those odd rings, and they were not hard to separate. Less hard than removing the original pads from the DT990.

Agnostic and myself will do a mini-meet this or next week and painstakingly compare the differences between his classic DT990 with the dictionary-flattened silver pads and my classic DT990 (formerly his) with the original pads restored (also by Agnostic

If we wait another week we should be able to throw an AKG K701 into the mini-meet mix.
