First off my rig is a iPod 5th gen with imod and my amp is a Fiio E11.
Now I need help finding a good set of Over-the-ears headphones to complete my rig.
I've been looking at the DT770's both the 80ohms and the 250ohms. I'm not sure if I'm a 100% sure set on those. Can I get some help please? My budget is $300 and I listen to just about every genre.

Hello,

If you already have that rig, I am guessing you already have a preferred sound signature, what is it? XD

As for now, I will just stick with neutral;
AKG K550/545
PSB M4U1

Hope it helps
Billson :)

I don't have the rig yet I need to purchase the imod cable and mod my iPod 5th gen.

Do you have a preferred sound signature then? I see UrbanEars on your profile pic. If you have them, what you think about them? I have briefly tried them before, I find them rather bassy.

k545 will sound great with a nice little amp and almost as good straight from your iPod alone. They are a bit more portable than the K550 and have more bass. They also are extremely comfortable.

Unfortunately I have not owned the DT770 so can't comment on that. I can say that the detail of the K545 is very high without sounding artificial and it has an above average sound stage. So far I have not found a genre I don't like with them ranging from hard rock, classic rock, classical, jazz, acoustic, Celtic, country, etc.

I get exactly what your asking for from my K545, clear detailed and emotional vocals, wonderful detail in the treble without becoming painful and bass that is full but never over cooked.

I suggest the NAD Viso HP50, got them a couple of days ago and they sound excellent imo. I find that they have a warm sound signature with a nice punchy bass with clear treble and mids.
