I am currently doing a non-extensive study and report on organs.

I would like to get some CDs and particularily good ones that people have heard and liked.

I am looking for recommendations here.

p.s. Was not there some site about binaural recordings posted earlier that had quite a few organ recordings? Are they any good?

One of the best Jazz organists in my opinion was Larry Young. Check out "Unity" or "Into Somethin'",both on Blue Note RVG remasters.

As far as Rock, check out Deep Purple-"Made In Japan" to hear Jon Lord on the Hammond Organ.

For Bach I like Helmut Walcha's recordings on Archiv Produktion. It is a good starter, a long cd as well, I think around 72 minutes. Catalog no. 289 457 704-2. It includes the Toccata and Fugue in G minor (Phantom of the Opera / scary movies) which I think is the piece most people associate with organ music.
Best of Luck
