I'm a fairly new Hi-Fier and am starting to feel the need for higher quality sound.
iTunes has a bunch of settings: AAC, AIFF, Lossless, & WAV settings with optional VBR as well as adjustable Stereo Bit Rates & Sample Rates.
I've read this, and skimmed over this. From the looks of it, bigger is not always better.
What would be your optimal settings?
Of course, you could set everything up as high as it would go, but that's not "optimizing".
(I know there are many other ways to encode audio, but with the popularity of iTunes, proper settings could make a difference in the audio of not just Hi-Fiers)
