How does PM3 compare with ER4XR in tonality? Is the PM3 bass is higher than ER4XR? How about mids?I haven't listened to the K872 but just looking at InnerFidelity's isolation measurements for it and the PM-3, the PM-3 is going to be way better.
From personal experience, I think the PM-3 is fantastic for live mixing Front of House! It's fairly durable, comes with a travel case, seals out sound very well, and their fairly even, neutral sound signature lends itself well to honing in accurately on any sound attributes you need to hear clearly while monitoring. I usually rely on these with a pair of Etymotic ER4 XRs as a backup. Just watch out for the cables as they're kinda flimsy; especially with the amount of abuse they might see at the desk or on the road touring. I'd invest in making some DIY cables or buying some that are more robust.

Yep, Oppo PM3's build quality was awesome and these cans felt way better in hand versus their photos.

Due to their tendency to flake over time on both the pads and headband. Makes sense. But the gradual degrading over time doesn’t bother me.Sorry… these are keepers.

Found a pair for $124. I’m good with that. These are some wonderful bang for the buck. Easily sounding over $500

I bought: Defean Headphone Protector Headband Fabric Compatible with Audio Technica M30 M40 M50 M50X M50S M40X Headphone
from Amazon back in 2019.
The Oppos haven't gotten a ton of use since then, and I've loaned them out to my father so I can't inspect them at the moment, but it's still intact and in decent condition. I don't recall that it was especially difficult to put on.
Current price is US$9.98, so not a crazy expensive experiment.

I bought this hand band cover and over size pads a few years ago. The pads are showing ware (flaking), but the headband is holding up well.Where did you find the headband cover? I replaced the pads but couldn't find a headband cover. Thanks.

These are my bedside cans now, as they are the most comfortable set for lying on a pillow.
