It seems that you were mistaken the resistance of HD800 as 32 ohms. It should be 300 ohms; balanced mode is probably better with HD800. I'll have a comparison of SE vs XLR with Taurus II and HD800 in about two weeks. Meanwhile, it is indeed interesting that the Taurus II may be better with HE-6 vs SE vs. XLR, assuming the published specifications are correct for 32 ohms. The HE-6 is lower than 60 ohms. It is likely Taurus II is more powerful with HE-6 via SE. I'm going to test this soon as well.
